Keno win gives Port Macquarie woman 101 thousand reasons to smile
Winning $101,000 on Keno on Father’s Day at the Seabreeze Beach Hotel at South West Rocks has given a Port Macquarie woman 101 thousand reasons to smile.
The woman, who returned to her job in clerical work the day after her big win, was ecstatic at the nine from nine number win, which she says will help fulfill her renovation dreams.
“I want to put in a pool and do some tiling in our house, so it will take the pressure off having to pay for that,” she said.
On the morning of the win, the woman, her husband and his niece had just finished a tour of the scenic coastal area, having moved there from Sydney recently, when they stopped in for lunch at the Seabreeze.
“We went to have a look at the area,” she said. “We moved here from Sydney not long ago, so we thought we’d take a look around.”
The woman said the win was “unexpected” as she hadn’t won “anything big” before.
“I was suprised and a bit worried that the ticket would burst into flames or a big gust of wind would come and pick it up and carry it away,” she said.
Seabreeze Hotel Manager, Kyle Fardy said ” there was definitely a buzz about the place” following the win.
“Everyone around here was talking about it; they’re still talking about it,” Kyle said.
“Our patrons really enjoy playing Keno because it gets everyone involved in it and you don’t have to be an expert to play.”
He said the difference between Keno and other lotteries was that Keo draws were far more frequent, with a new game every three minutes, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Whether is was the win or the water view, the winner is hooked on the Seabreeze.
“We will come back again,” she said. “There’s no doubt about it.”
